Prospective Families: Hear from Students
| Student Testimonials |
If you ask most kids, "Do you like school?" their immediate
answer is "No!" But, if you asked me that question I would say, "I
don't like my school work, but I like my school."
I like my school for a whole lot of reasons. The first is
it's small, but most people like big schools where there's a ton of
people. I love being in a smaller school and having a smaller class
because I know everybody, and we're all friends. I don't have to pick a
certain group of people to hang out with or pick a certain group of
people that I can't hang out with! Whenever I need something, even if
it's just a minor thing, people go out of their way to help, just like
your family would!
The second reason is religion class. I am truly fortunate
that I get a religion class. Everyday I get to learn about God and how
much He loves us! We read from the Bible, learn prayers, and do all
kinds of other activities. But, during religion class we, also, learn
important values that we will need for the rest of our lives. We learn
how to treat and respect everyone and how to form better consciences, so
we can make better choices. But, most importantly, we learn how to
communicate and listen to God so that we are truly connected with Him!
Not only do I get religion class, but I get to test out
everything that I've learned when we go to church every Friday. The
nice thing about it is that the whole school comes together to celebrate
Mass. So, we are no longer separate individuals, but one, big family
ready to praise and serve God!
I've spent nine out of the fourteen years that I've lived at
Holy Angels and have gathered some truly amazing, unforgettable memories
here. I've learned so much and can guarantee that the knowledge I've
gained will be used everyday for the rest of my life. This is my last
year here and I'm really going to miss it, but Holy Angels will always
be a major piece to the puzzle of my life!
So, you see if you attend Holy Angels you not only get
religion class, go to church, and learn all the other school subjects,
but you become part of a never-ending family and truly find another
place to call home.

Four Generations
Four generations of our family attended Holy Angels all the way through.
My Great Popo Weigandt, Papaw and Grandma Schlater, my mom and now my cousins and me too.
The changes have been many over the years.
However, Holy Angels withstood them all from wars, recessions, and nuclear bomb fears.
From Holy Angels High School becoming LCHS, to building expansions and countless ways to raise funds.
My family still feels for the strong faith education and personal teacher attention, when choosing a school – Holy Angels is the ONE!
Allison Neu – current 7 th Grade
Emily (Schlater) Neu – Lehman ‘94
Brenda (Weigandt) Schlater and Ken – Holy Angels H. S. ‘66
Richard Weigandt – Holy Angels H. S. ‘38

First, I want to say “Thank you” to Holy Angels and Lehman Catholic for providing excellent education to and quality values to:
My Grandpa Tom, H.A. 1934 -1946;
My Aunt Linda, H. A. and L.C. 1959 to 1971
My Dad, Tom II, H. A. and L.C. 1961-1974
My Uncle Steve, H. A. and L.C. 1964-1977
My Uncle Mike, H. A. and L.C. 1974-1987
My sister, Lauren, H. A. and L.C. 1990-2004
My sister, Katie, H. A. and L.C. 1992-2006
I look forward with pride to graduating from Holy Angels in 2013 and Lehman Catholic in 2017. Then, onto Ohio State – GO BUCKS!
My dad told me he was in Mrs. Bunnell’s second grade classroom when she told him, “some kook just shot President Kennedy” in 1963. My dad said he really liked all of his teachers, especially Mrs. Bunnell, Ms. Prueter, Father Jerry Buck and Monsignor Lehman. Did you know Monsignor Lehman liked to smoke cigars and one time even got cigar ashes on my Dad’s Grade card? My Dad thought that was really cool until Monsignor Lehman read his grade card out loud to the whole class. I hope that doesn’t happen to me at Lehman.
Go H.A.. L.C. and OSU!!

Student Memories
Memories That Will Never Fade
Through all my years,
Came smiles and tears.
No certain memory,
Too big or too small,
I’ll definitely remember them all.
Classes grew smaller,
Classmates grew taller,
We built friendships throughout every H.A. hall.
My nine years here went by quickly,
But in time cannot be measured,
Although laughs, smiles, sporting events, and friendships made will
Always be treasured.

Holy Angels
I’ve been at Holy Angels ever since I was in kindergarten. It has been a great experience for me and I have enjoyed it so much!
One of my favorite experiences was in kindergarten when we got to dress up as the letter people that we talked about just about everyday. It was so fun. On their birthday, everybody got to take a picture with the letter person that had the same beginning letter as their name.
The letter person that was “C” just like the beginning of my name was “Colossal Cap C”. But, when I dressed up, I was “Rainbow Ribbon R”. I thought I was just so cool because my mom glued ribbons on my outfit. I thought the letter “R” person and I looked exactly alike, even though we looked nothing alike.
That was one of my favorite days at Holy Angels, even though it was a while ago. I’ve had a lot of great experiences at Holy Angels, but that one definitely stands out.

Holy Angels Greatest Memory
During my nine years as a student of Holy Angels, I have collected a treasure trove of memories. I have to say it was very hard to pick my favorite, but I chose the Greek party in fifth grade.
I
was in Mrs. Jutte’s fifth grade class, and we were studying Ancient Greek history in Social Studies. She had thought up of an idea to have a Greek party where we could leam to eat and dress like the Greeks did in their time.
We put a sheet over our uniforms to make a toga like outfit that had a rope belt to hold it in place. On our heads, we had a crown of ivy. We also were in for a treat of great Greek food. Our class dined on pita bread, olives, goat cheese, sometimes known as feta cheese, dates and grape juice in place of wine.
On that day, our class shared some laughter and good times that I know will remain in my heart for many years to come.

Lunch Table
The lunch table is my favorite place to eat.
Its where all the secrets are told about,
Some of them made us scream & shout!
It’s where we laugh until we cry,
Some of you may wonder why.
Well, we do because were happy & wild.
Some teachers say “Calm down, child.”
Places and friends may come & leave,
But these memories will always stay with me.

One of my Treasured Memories at Holy Angels was when I got to carry the cross at the Living Rosary.
It was in October, the month of the Holy Rosary, when my friend B... and I said the Apostles Creed out loud to lead the Living Rosary which was make of 5th and 6th grade students. It was a great honor for me!

I was a student in Mrs. Stockstill's class. The last class to have the privilege of being taught by such a wonderful teacher. My most treasured memory is the stories she told us in class. I am lucky that I had the chance to be in Mrs. Stockstill's class.

When I was in the fourth grade, I remember going to the eithth grade versus faculty volleyball game. It was very memorable because it was Ms. Preuter’s last year teaching at Holy Angels School. Every year the students lost because the teachers had the referee (Ms. Preuter) on their side. But every year everyone has a blast watching their favorite and not-so-favorite teachers play. I can vividly remember Ms. Preuter dressing up for the occasion with sunglasses and a lady bug headband. The teachers won that year, but it was closer than usual, and everyone left the gym in good spirits.

When I was in first grade, we went to Ohio Caverns. It was the coolest place I have ever been. When my class finished looking through the caverns, my mom brought snacks for us to have. They were ice cream cones filled with cupcake batter with icing and sprinkles on top. All the boys in the class thought the icing was ice cream. It was really funny – they thought they were eating ice cream the whole time. Looking back on it now, that was one of the funniest memories I have of Holy Angels.

My best Holy Angels School memory was in kindergarten when we finally found the gingerbread man and ate him. He was delicious!

My best memory at Holy Angels School was in Mrs. Jutte’s English class in 5 th grade. She would tell us lots of stories. She was my favorite teacher because she gave me the ambition to write. I still remember most of her stories.

One time in fourth grade I won a poster in the school raffle. I jumped so high that I almost jumped over a desk, and I won my first prize at Holy Angels. The poster I won was a Dwayne Wade poster.
In kindergarten the power went out because Ben Freytag hit a power switch. We got to play outside for an hour. It was awesome!
When we were in fourth grade we went to the auditorium. We saw unique animals and saw ourselves in negative, which is opposite color. It was really cool.
When I was in kindergarten I got my sixth grade partner, Andrew McDonough. He lives in my neighborhood. I think that’s why he picked me.

My favorite memory was in third grade. When my father died, everyone was so kind to me. They made sure I was alright and everything. Families were kind enough to cook meals for every night. It made me feel good to know all of those people cared about me and my family. It was a hard time for us, and everyone made my family and me feel loved. Holy Angels is like a great, big family.

My favorite memory at Holy Angels is reading in church with my friends. I like my Angel Crew because they are nice.

My favorite memory at Holy Angels is when I went on an Easter Egg Hunt in Kindergarten. It was cool! We went all over the school, the library, and the gym, everywhere! Easter is about when Jesus rose from the cross and proved he was the Son of God. But it was a long time ago.
