Teacher Memory

My favorite memory took place many years ago before I began working here at Holy Angels. I am a product of Catholic education – from first grade through my college years. I had been substitute teaching in many different public schools in Mercer, Auglaize and Shelby counties; but I had never been to Holy Angels. One morning, Principal Jim O’Leary called to ask me to sub at Holy Angels. I had to ask him for directions to the school because I didn’t even know where it was.
Since his call came late, I was quite late reaching school, and actually arrived only a few minutes before the students began pouring into the classroom. Then almost immediately we had to move out of the room and down the stairs because it was a Mass day, and we needed to be in church.
I remember distinctly as I walked down those stairs, I thought, “This feels like home!” A few weeks later, Mr. O’Leary called me with a job offer to teach here, and 17 years later, I’m still here – and it still feels like home!
